January’s bushfires started 2020 with blackened skies and destruction which impacted us collectively with the loss of so much life. This publication was initially meant to come out in March. Then an unprecedented pandemic hit us and the world went into shut down mode. Our community was hit by a multitude of loss, loss of life, and livelihoods.
When I’d come up with the theme of death for KS press first publication, it was intended to be a theme in which we could artistically explore the dichotomy of new beginnings and the cyclical nature of change. Never had I imagined the literal sense of this theme would engulf us the way it has.
Despite all this, we bring you BLEED BABY BLEED. The KS Press literary zine.
I’d love to give thanks to the women who help me run KS. Thankyou for turning your computers back on after hours, for rescheduling your valuable time, for bringing your passion and ideas to this incredible table we are creating. Thank you for believing in me when I didn’t, and believing in the greater vision of what publishing will be for the next generation.
Thank you to the creators who have contributed their work on this tiny and self assured publication. Thank you for submitting your work to BLEED BABY BLEED. This is your platform now.
Please stay tuned for the printed issue featuring amazing WOC
We plan on more callouts for different projects and while WOC + First Nation women is our current focus we will be looking to open up our community sometime in 2021.
